Discount Type 1: Stackable Discounts
▍Use Case
For every $100 spent, customers will get a $10 discount (cumulative). This means that for every additional $100 spent, customers will receive another $10 discount. For example, spending $300 will give a $30 discount, and spending $500 will give a $50 discount, and so on.
▍Setup Steps
From Shopify admin > Discounts > Click Create Discount button > Choose Tiered Discount under Ako Marketing.
Step 1: In Amount off order > Method, select Discount and enter the promotion name in the Title field (this name will be for your internal reference, not visible to customers).
Step 2: Under Discount rule > Discount type, choose "Fixed amount" for a cumulative fixed discount or "Percentage" for a cumulative percentage discount.
Step 3: In Discount set > Discount title, enter the discount name that will show in customer's order details (e.g., Storewide discount: Get $10 off for every $100 spent)
Step 4: In Discount set > Discount Value, enter the discount amount, and in the Minimum purchase amount ($) field, specify the minimum amount the customer needs to spend to qualify for the discount.
Step 5: Under Combinations, select whether you want to allow other discount types to be combined. If you want customers to redeem their loyalty points along with the tiered discount, please check "Order discounts".
Step 6: Schedule the campaign start and end dates and click Save. The tiered discount campaign will automatically go live once the start date arrives.
Discount Type 2: Tiered Discount
▍Use Case
This type of discount is often used in department store promotions to encourage customers for spending more. For example, storewide items: Spend $300, get $30 off; spend $500, get $45 off; spend $800, get $60 off, and so on.
▍Setup Steps
From Shopify admin > Discounts > Click Create Discount button > Choose Tiered Discount under Ako Marketing.
Step 1: In Amount off order > Method, select Multiple discounts and enter the promotion name in the Title field (for internal reference).
Step 2: Under Discount rule > Discount type, check "Only apply the maximum eligible discount once per order" and choose the discount type: "Fixed amount" for a fixed discount or "Percentage" for a percentage discount.
Step 3: In Discount set > Discount 1, enter the discount name for Tier 1. This name will appear in the customer’s order details.
Step 4: In Discount Value, enter the discount amount that Tier 1 will apply, and in the Minimum purchase amount ($) field, specify the minimum amount the customer needs to spend to qualify for the discount. After that, click "+ Add another discount rule" to set up the next tier of discount.
Ako Marketing will apply the best available discount based on the final checkout amount. If the customer spends $500, only the $45 discount will be applied, and the $30 discount from the lower tier will not be included.
Step 5: Under Combinations, select whether you want to allow other discount types to be combined. To allow customers to redeem their loyalty points along with the multiple tiered discounts, please check "Order discounts".
Step 6: Schedule the campaign start and end dates and click Save. The tiered discount campaign will automatically go live once the start date arrives.
3. How the discount appears to customers
When a logged-in customer reaches one of the thresholds, the discount is automatically applied in their cart. You’ll see “Discount applied” displayed at the bottom right of the cart summary.
