If you have a loyalty program or store rewards system, it’s a good idea to remind your customers before their points or discounts expire. This keeps them engaged and encourages them to redeem before it’s too late! In this blog, we'll show you how to easily set up email notifications for expiring points and discounts.
Step 1 - Go to the Ako Marketing app > Settings > Email notifications
Step 2 - Setup your expiry notifications
What Are Expiry Notifications?
These are automatic emails that go out to your customers to remind them about their expiring rewards or points. There are two types of reminders you can set:
-
Countdown Reminder
What it does: Send a reminder email a set number of days before the expiry date.
Example: If you set it to 14 days, the customer will get an email 14 days before their points or discounts expire.
-
Last Chance Reminder
What it does: Send a final reminder email just before the expiry date.
Example: If you set it to 1 day, the customer will get an email 1 day before their rewards expire.
Step 3 - Edit your email settings and complete your sender information
When setting up your email campaigns or automated messages, you’ll be asked to enter your "From Name" and "Reply-To Address."
-
The From Name is the name your customers see in their inbox when they receive your email
-
The Reply-To Address is the email address where customers can send their replies. If a customer clicks “Reply” on your email, their message will go to this email address.
Akohub Tips:
✅ Use a name that your customers will recognize, like your store or brand name.
✅ Make sure this is an active inbox that your team checks regularly
Step 4 - Enable email notifications

Step 6 - Email variables
Email variables are placeholders. When the email is sent, these variables will be replaced with real information. For example, the customer’s name, how many points they earned, or their discount code.
When you customize your email notifications, you’ll see special words like {{points}}, {{rewardTitle}}, etc. These are called email variables, and they automatically fill in the correct information for each customer.
⚠️ Don’t delete or change these variables. Here’s a quick guide to each variable and what it does:
