Shopify’s new customer accounts make it super easy for customers to log in. Instead of using a password, they get a one-time 6-digit code sent to their email.

How to Switch to the New Customer Accounts

  1. Log in to Shopify admin.

  2. Go to Settings > Customer accounts.

  3. Turn on "Show login links"

  4. Switch to "Customer accounts (Recommended)"

Why Should Customers Connect Their Social Media Accounts?

Encouraging customers to connect their social accounts benefits both you and them:

  1. Earn rewards: Customers get incentives like points or discounts when they connect their accounts.

  2. Know your audience: You can learn which social media platforms they like to use.

  3. Better ads: Use their social media ID for smarter advertising.

How to Enable Social Accounts Connection in New Customer Accounts?

In Ako Marketing admin:

  1. Go to Settings > Connect social accounts > Set up.

  2. Turn on Facebook login, Google login, or LINE login.

In Shopify admin:

  1. Go to Online Store > Theme > Customize > App embeds.

  2. Turn on the Ako Loyalty Widget.

Give Rewards for Connecting Social Media Accounts

  1. From Ako Loyalty admin, go to Loyalty Program > Ways to Earn Rewards

  2. Click Edit next to “Connect a social account.”

  3. Pick the reward: Points or Discount Code. (You can decide if the reward can combine with other discounts (e.g., free shipping or product discounts).

What Customers Will See on New Customer Accounts

Here’s how the experience looks for customers:

  1. They enter their email.

  2. Shopify sends a one-time 6-digit code to their email.

  3. They type in the code to log in.

  4. Shopify automatically creates a new customer profile for them if it doesn’t already exist.

  5. Once logged in, customers can open the loyalty widget and connect their social accounts to earn rewards.
