Encourage members to buy more by awarding points based on their spending. Specify the number of points or store credit to award for a certain amount spent. For example, you may reward 10 points or $1 in store credit for every $10 spent.
How to Set Up Purchase Rewards
Accessing the Reward Settings

Navigate to Loyalty Program > Ways to earn reward

Find the "Place an order" option in the list of available rewards

Click "Edit" to modify the reward settings
Configuring Your Reward

Choose a descriptive title for this reward (This will be visible to customers in their cart and at checkout)

Select the reward type:

Points: Award loyalty points based on purchase amount

Store credit: Award a percentage of purchase as store credit

Editing Points Rewards

Add New Rewards:
Select Points to modify point-based rewards:

Click "Edit in points"

If you need to adjust the points ratio, you'll be redirected to the points program setup page

Go back to the Loyalty program > Place an order > Point reward section and customize the reward icon.
To configure different reward values based on customer VIP tiers:

From the "Point reward" settings page, check the box labeled "Different point values based on VIP tiers"

This will expand additional options showing all your existing VIP tier levels

For each tier, you can set a unique reward percentage or point value:

Starter tier: Set your base reward value (1 point for every $1 spent)

Gold tier: Set an enhanced value (e.g., 2 points for every $1 spent)

Platinum tier: Set a premium value (e.g., 3 points for every $1 spent)

You can edit individual tiers by clicking "Edit in points" next to a specific tier

Alternatively, use the "Edit value" button at the bottom to modify all tiers at once

Ensure the values align with your overall loyalty strategy and profit margins

Click "Save" to apply your VIP tier-specific reward structure
These tiered rewards will automatically apply based on the customer's current VIP status, encouraging progression through your loyalty program tiers.
5. Click "Save" to apply your changes
6. The system will automatically switch the status toggle to "Active"
Editing Shopify Store Credit Rewards
If you want to provide store credit rewards for customer purchases, follow these steps:

Navigate to Loyalty Program > Ways to earn reward

Find the "Place an order" option in the list of available rewards

Click "Edit" to modify the reward settings
Add New Rewards:
Select Store credit to modify store credit -based rewards:

Click "Edit Value"

Set the percentage value for store credit returns Example: 3% store credit means a $100 purchase will earn $3 in store credit that can be used on future purchases
Editing Based on VIP Tiers
To configure different reward values based on customer VIP tiers:

From the "Store credit reward" settings page, check the box labeled "Different point values based on VIP tiers"

Configuring Store Credit Conditions
Once you've established the percentage value, you can customize how the store credit is calculated and when it's issued:
Reward Condition: Order Total
Define which elements are included in the order total calculation:

Product total (Default): Based only on product price before shipping or taxes Example: A $50 product with $5 shipping and $4 tax would earn rewards on the $50 amount only

Include shipping: Adds shipping costs to the reward calculation Example: A $50 product with $5 shipping would earn rewards on $55 if this option is enabled

Include taxes: Adds taxes to the reward calculation Example: A $50 product with $4 tax would earn rewards on $54 if this option is enabled
Store Credit Issue Date
Control when the store credit becomes available to customers:

Immediately: Credit is issued as soon as the order is placed Example: Customer places a $100 order and can immediately use their $3 store credit on their next purchase

After X amount of days: Credit is issued after a specified number of days AND after the order reaches a certain status Example 1: Setting "14 days after the order is paid" means the customer receives their credit two weeks after payment is confirmed Example 2: Setting "30 days after the order is paid and fulfilled" ensures the order is both paid for and shipped before issuing the credit Recommended setting: Consider your return policy timeframe when setting this value. If you allow returns for 14 days, you might want to set the credit issuance to 15+ days to avoid complications with returned orders
Important Note: The store credit will only be issued once ALL specified conditions are met. If you set "paid and fulfilled" as the condition, both payment and fulfillment must be complete before the waiting period begins.
Customizing the Reward Icon
Enhance the visual presentation of your store credit rewards:

Default Icon: Use the system's standard icon Best for: Quick setup without custom branding needs

Custom Icon: Upload your own brand-specific image
-
Requirements: 1:1 ratio (60x60px recommended)

File size: Less than 50KB
-
Formats: PNG, JPG

Best for: Consistent branding across your rewards program
