- Plan Requirement: This feature is available on the Platinum plan (US$49) and above.
- Status Check: Ensure your Points Program is set to Active under Loyalty Program > Programs.
- App Install: Make sure the Akohub app is installed on your Shopify store.
1. Creating a Birthday Reward
Follow these steps to create your "Celebrate a Birthday" campaign:
- Navigate to Loyalty Program → Ways to earn reward. Click +Add New and select Celebrate a birthday.
- Name Your Reward: This name will appear in the customer loyalty widget.

Choose Reward Type: Select between Points, Store credit, Amount off order, Free Shipping, Discount Code.
- Tier-Based Rewards (Optional): Check "Different points value based on VIP tiers" to offer higher rewards to your VIP customers.
- Expiration: Set points to expire between 1–120 months or set them to never expire.

Save & Activate: Choose an icon, click Save, and toggle the switch to On.




2. Managing Birthdate Security
By default, customers can edit their birthdates. To prevent system abuse, you can make birthdates non-editable after the first entry:
- Inside the Birthday settings, click Edit in Customer profile.
- Check the box: "Set customer birth date to non-editable."
- If a correction is needed, admins can still manually edit dates within the Akohub Customer Profile.
3. Configuring Birthday Emails
Keep your brand top-of-mind with automated birthday greetings:
Go to Akohub app > Settings > Email Notifications on the "Celebrate a birthday" template. Customize your message, branding, and discount details, then switch the status to On.
4. Data Storage in Shopify
Akohub ensures your data is useful for other marketing efforts:
- Metafields: The full birthdate is saved to the Shopify customer profile.
- Customer Tags: Birth year, month, and day are saved as tags

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
When should customers add their birthday?
Customers must enter their birthday at least 30 days (or as per your specific settings, usually 24-48 hours minimum) in advance to receive a gift in the current year. This prevents users from signing up on their actual birthday just to get an instant discount.
Can customers receive gifts twice by changing the date?
No. Akohub limits birthday rewards to once per 365 days. If a customer changes their date after receiving a gift, the new date will be scheduled for the following year.
