After setting up a retargeting campaign, you may see the following error message:
“You must certify compliance with our non-discrimination policy before running ads.”
This message means your Meta (Facebook) ad account has not yet confirmed compliance with Meta’s Non-Discrimination Policy. Until this certification is completed, your ads cannot run.
How to fix this issue
Follow these steps to activate your retargeting campaign:
- Visit facebook.com/certification/nondiscrimination
- Carefully review Meta’s Non-Discrimination Policy
- Click “I Accept” at the bottom of the page
- Return to the Ako Marketing app and continue setting up your retargeting campaign
Once certified, the error message should disappear and your ads will be eligible to run.
What is Meta’s Non-Discrimination Policy?
Meta requires advertisers to confirm that their ads do not discriminate against individuals or groups based on protected characteristics, including:
- Race or ethnicity
- National origin
- Religion
- Age
- Sex or sexual orientation
- Gender identity
- Family or marital status
- Disability
- Medical or genetic conditions
This policy helps ensure advertising opportunities are inclusive and fair for all users.

Why is this certification required?
This certification is especially important for advertisers in housing, employment, or financial services, where ads must not exclude or unfairly target protected groups.
Meta requires this confirmation before allowing ads to run—regardless of whether your campaign is directly related to these industries.
Who can complete the certification?
Only users with Full Control permissions in the Meta Business Portfolio can certify compliance on behalf of the ad account.
If you do not have the required permissions, please ask your Business Manager admin to complete the certification.
What happens if I don’t complete the certification?
- Your ads will be rejected
- Your retargeting campaign will not run
- The error message will continue to appear until certification is completed
